Rally for Bill 148: $15 & Fairness Now!

Come join us for a rally for workers’ rights in the Byward Market next Wednesday July 12th!

The Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs is hosting a hearing on the The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act (Bill 148). This Bill proposes important changes to labour laws that will advance workers’ rights in Ontario, including bringing in a $15 minimum wage, equal pay for part-time and temp workers, better sick leave for all workers, and making it easier to unionize in some sectors.

But workers need the government to go further – including 7 paid sick days, more advanced scheduling, stronger enforcement, and easier access to unionization for all. Most importantly, we need to eliminate all the loopholes and exemptions that will still leave many workers, including migrant workers, unprotected. We demand decent work for all of us, not just some of us!

Anti-worker businesses are mobilizing to water down this Bill. We need to drown out their noise! Join us for a lunch hour rally to hear from workers who would benefit from better labour laws. Bring some noisemakers, get loud and support the fight for $15 & Fairness!
