12,000 Ontario public college faculty are into their second week on the picket line, and the College Employer Council has still not come back to the table to bargain with OPSEU.
College faculty are facing underpaid contracts with no job security beyond one semester. Here are their main demands:
– A 50:50 ratio of full-time to contract faculty, which currently sits at over 70% contract faculty;
– Equal pay for partial-load faculty doing the same work as higher paid full-time faculty;
– Increased job security for partial-load faculty, who currently work on one-semester contracts; and,
– Academic freedom to give faculty a stronger voice in academic decision-making
