Rescheduled: General Membership Meeting June 20th, 6pm

We have rescheduled our general membership meeting to Monday, June 20th, at 6pm, over Zoom. We will try again to hold our election for the Vice-President and Treasurer positions.

The Ontario election will have already occurred by then, but we will have a debrief about CUPE’s efforts. In the meantime, here is what you need to know:

CUPE VOTES:

CUPE Ontario has launched a member-driven campaign called CUPE Votes, a campaign aimed at informing members of what is at stake in the upcoming provincial election and the issues of importance to CUPE members.

These key areas are:

  • Investing in Public Services
  • Making the wealthy pay their fair share
  • Strengthen Workers’ rights
  • Raise wages and tackle the cost living, and
  • Fight inequality and the climate crisis

You can find out more at cupevotes.ca to get involved, find local candidates and sign up to support the campaign and work locally with CUPE members and supporters across the province.

As for the Council meeting, remember, you do not need to be currently affiliated to send a delegate. We are happy to hear from anyone involved with CUPE in Ottawa. If you are affiliated, you will have a chance to vote for important executive positions. There does not need to be a formal process for selecting delegates: any member of your local will be very welcome.

Please let us know if there are any questions. The Zoom link for the meeting is below. You may register in advance through the link, too.
